Clothesline Quilts Presents

24 Sep 2014

Hello quilting friends,

Last week we had a guest at Quilter's Window

A big THANK YOU to Yvonne Cook of Clothesline Quilts for a great program!  The history and knowledge of the Civil Wars you present is amazing.  You really engaged the audience with the beautiful quilts and the stories they present to your patterns.

Several of us are now looking for civil war prints to add to our stash, plus the urge to dig through that stash to see what treasures might be looking forward to bring life to a new quilt top.

I thought I would share a few of the picture from the evening that was so inspiring.

Thank you Evonne and to all the people that could make this program possible!

Clothesline Quilts is Coming!

Civil War Generals & Battle Fields Program by Clothesline Quilts

Have you always wanted to learn more about the history of our Battle Fields and Generals while viewing beautiful quilts?

Evonne Cook from Clothesline Quilts will be at Quilter's Window presenting her program on the Battle Series and Generals of the Civil Wars. Each quilt in her series represents a major battle of the American Civil War from 1861 through 1865. Each quilt has a short historical story about the battle and the patterns in this series has a fictional letter from the battlefield - a fun way to learn a little more about our country's history and the hardships of war. You will discover the history of the Generals of the American Civil War. Like the Battle Series there are biographical sketches of the generals and interesting information on his life, family and career

To see more of her patterns and join her blog go to http://www.clotheslinequilts.com/

Mark September 18th on your calendar and sign up to join Yvonne for her program at 5:30.   A fee of $10 will reserve your seat. A dessert bar will be served along with a gift valued at $20 for all those who attend.

Blogger Girls II Revealing!

01 Jul 2014

Did you have fun doing the Blogger Girls II Block of the Month?  I sure did!  Thanks to Monique for inviting us to take part so I could create another one of her designs.  Since I did the blocks from her collections of fabric and in the red, cream, blues and greens it seems fitting that it would be complete just in time for our 4th of July weekend.  How cute this would look on the front porch swing. Oh, yeah one problem…It is in the front window of the store and not on my porch.  Guess I will have to display it for everyone to see this weekend of freedom.

Blogger Girls II Complete

If you look close you can see that I finished my version a little different than the instructions.  I left out the corner sections of the monthly blocks because I wanted the stars in the alternate blocks to pop out and I finished the inner border with a 2 1/2" strip instead of the 1 1/2" border.

Be sure to visit all the other bloggers to see how they finished their quilts and I hope you will share your quilts with us as well!

Blogger Girls Block 6

31 May 2014

Here we are, the first of June and signs of Summer are being well received by those of us who had a very, very long Winter.   How do you spend your Summer time?  Gardening, camping, sewing, biking?  So many things to put into our days to enjoy time outside.  With everything that has been going on, I still try to make time to do a little stitching each night.  It is amazing with even an hour each night how much one can accomplish.  Truth be told, I wanted to be further on my Blogger Girls but life was a little out of control this past month.  Next month I will have everything together to show you the finished quilt top.  I just love these little blocks, don't you?

Be sure to visit all the other Blog posts and see what they have put together.  I hope these continue to inspire you and hop we can see how some of your quilts turn out!

Have a great Sunday & Stop back soon.

Life is....

30 May 2014

Hello dear friends!

All of our lives seem to be crazy these days and mine has been no different.  As much as I would love to spend more time in therapy (sewing room) I have committed myself to family time.  My husband Bill and I have two sons.  Our youngest Marshall just graduated from High School and our oldest Mitchell got engaged just before Christmas. So you can imagine, right? On the flip side it has been wonderful to have another female in the house after living with 3 guys for the last 22 years.  For this reason my time has been spread thin and my time to blog limited.  Truthfully I have been better at facebook posting lately since I can do little snippets on happenings at the store. Graduation is over, yes he graduated in the top portion of his class and made us proud. So we have a few months before the wedding and everything is going great, Chelsea is a great planner and organized. We are blessed to be welcoming her into our family.  I'll share a few snap shops since I am so proud of both boys.

Don't they make a cute couple?

Next on the agenda...... The All Iowa Shop Hop!  The 3rd year and we have over $11,000 dollars in prizes to give away to those who visit all the shops in a region or bigger prizes for those that make it to all 94 shops.  Pick up your one of a kind magazine at any participating store, they are $5.  Everything you need to do the Iowa hop is in there! Call today to order your Iowa prints or stop in and them before they are gone!  Once they are gone, they are gone!

We did a quilt with the gray tone on tone print.  Iowa designer V and Co.'s pattern Barn Dance and Kona solids, we thought that was fitting.  It's on the quilting frame as I post this, can't wait....  We also have a smaller project made from the free 6" charms that were collected from the shops in the NE region. I'll have to post that one later after I get a picture.
